Masters Degrees

Master of Science

The Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) provides an advanced and in-depth coverage of the field. In addition to setting a strong foundation for further graduate studies at doctoral level, the MSCS allows a number of elective courses in computer science to prepare future master graduates in a computing field of specialization. The degree requires 36 semester credit hours of computer science courses at graduate level as follows:

  • COSC 5345 Advanced Algorithm Analysis
  • COSC 5361 Computability Theory
  • COSC 5362 Complexity Theory
  • COSC 6300 Master Thesis
  • COSC 6301 Master Thesis
  • 21 advanced semester credit hours of prescribed elective courses in computer science at graduate level to be selected in consultation with the student's thesis advisor and with graduate advisor's approval.

Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies

The Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (M.S.I.S.) with
concentration in computer science requires a total of 36 semester hours of
graduate credit. A total of 18 graduate semester credit hours must be taken
in computer science. An additional 18 hours must be taken in two or more
supporting fields outside the area of concentration, which must include ISCI
