Visiting Scholar Brings the Impact of UTB to Home Institution in China
Dr. Mande Shen returned his home institution (Wuhan Textile University, China) after 6 months of visiting with Dr. Hansheng Lei's research group and the CIS department since early June, 2012. As one fruit of his visiting, he co-authored one paper titled "Improving OCR Performance with Background Image Elimination" with Dr. Lei. Upon his return, he gave a presentation on his research work at UTB and introduced the state-of-art research and teaching facilities to his colleagues and students. Some students expressed strong interests to apply for advanced study at UTB through different ways of programs, such as short term visiting, study abroad at UTB, or formal undergraduate and graduate studies.
