Project Description:

The Neuro-Education Initiative: Transforming Education through Neuroscience (TEN) is a collaborative project between the College of Education and the College of Biomedical Sciences and Health Professions at The University of Texas at Brownsville where faculty members with specialties in educational psychology, teacher education, instructional pedagogy, and human cognition and learning from the College of Education, and faculty members with specialties in neuroscience, biomedicine, and brain research from the College of Biomedical Sciences and Health Professions will work together to contribute to our STEM education that incorporates neuroscience into teacher education. The project goals are to (1) develop and establish a new neuro-educational certificate program which consists of TEN curricula and research opportunities for post-secondary students (both pre-service teachers and in-service teachers in our Master of Education programs), and (2) promote the TEN model with neuro-educational materials and techniques through periodically-held professional development NeuroEducation Research workshops and conferences for pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, educational administrators, and researchers.
