Research Project Description:

The purpose of this program is to increase the number of teachers throughout the State of Texas who meet state certification and licensing requirements by providing a free, on-line program to prepare teachers to take the State examinations for bilingual certification in coordination with participating ESCs. The program will contribute to improving the quality of bilingual education across Texas, a vital need for schools due to the large ELL population, and the significant shortage of knowledgeable, certified bilingual teachers. The program goal aligns with UTB´s long commitment to the preparation of bilingual teachers evidenced by the fact that 100% of our graduates are state certified and our vast experience using educational technology in program delivery. Similarly, this program proposes to prepare teachers seeking certification with a comprehensive online training that addresses the knowledge and skills of a highly qualified bilingual educator.
