UTB/TSC Clarinet Studio
Welcome to the website of the UTB/TSC Clarinet Studio!
Our studio is in an exciting period of growth and development. The music majors & minors that make up the studio are committed to working together to become the best clarinetists, musicians, and future music educators they can be.
Clarinet study at UTB/TSC is full of opportunity. This begins with each student’s weekly applied lessons. The course of study for applied lessons is individually tailored to meet the needs of each student. An emphasis is placed on the development of strong fundamentals and musicianship. These goals are achieved through a combination of scale/technical exercises, etudes, solo repertoire, orchestral excerpts and other exercises as necessary.
In addition to the applied lesson, studio members attend weekly studio class and technique class. Technique class is devoted to scale study and through the unique group format, students are able to work together to push themselves toward meeting their technical goals. In studio class, a wide variety of topics are covered. Students regularly perform for one another and offer feedback in a cooperative learning environment. Some of the other topics covered in studio class include repertoire, performers, history of the clarinet and reed adjustment.
Performance opportunities are plentiful as students perform each semester in studio recitals, departmental recitals and a wide variety of ensemble performances.
