Bio:

Dr. Carmona is a Lecturer in the Department of English. He received his PhD in Rhetoric, Writing, and Poetics from Texas A&M University in 2012. His specialty areas are Beat Literature, Poetry, and Chican@ poetics. He is currently a publishing poet who was a nominee for the Alfredo Cisneros de Miral Foundation Award for Emerging Writers in 2011 and has been published in various journals and magazines including Vandal, phati'tude Literary Magazine, Sagebrush Review, MEZCLA, and Bordersenses. His first book of poetry entitled beat was published by Slough Press in 2011. Currently he is editing an anthology called The Beatest State In The Union: An Anthology of Beat Texas Writings and is the organizer of the Annual Beat Poetry and Arts Festival.
