Biography:

Diamantina G. Freeberg has been a member of the Behavioral Sciences faculty for 27 years. She received her B.A. from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, and her M.A. and Ed.D. degrees from the University of Tulsa, Okla. Prior to joining the faculty, Dr. Freeberg was a school psychologist for the Tulsa Public Schools and the St. Louis County Special School District in St. Louis, Mo. As a member of the psychology faculty, Dr. Freeberg teaches Research Methods, Abnormal & Clinical Psychology, and Child Psychology. Dr. Freeberg has been active at UTB and has served on many committees, most recently as chair of the Information Resources Committee. In the community, she has been an active member of the Brownsville Junior Service League, the Pan American Round Table, and a member and chair of the board of the Brownsville Community Health Center.

Dr. Freeberg’s research interests are in public health. She has participated with the UT Houston School of Public Health-Brownsville Regional Campus in two of the cores of the EXPORT grant, with the UT Houston School of Public Health LINCC grant, and received a grant to study the effects of social support on treatment compliance in diabetic adolescents.

Dr. Freeberg has received exceptional merit recognition twice for her contribution to the university, and the Chai Award, presented by the Greene Family Camp, Bruceville, TX, in recognition of her summer work over the past 20 years.

Dr. Freeberg is a member of the American Psychological Association, Texas Psychological Association, Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, American Public Health Association, and LINCC (Latinos in a Network for Cancer Control). She is a licensed psychological associate.
