"Mascaras y Leyendas"

"Mascaras y Leyendas," a solo exhibition that will feature the works of Jessie Burciaga, will open on Tuesday, June 3 from 6 pm - 8 pm. The exhibition will be remain open until Friday, July 4. Light refreshments will be served.
"Being proud of the Mexican culture, yet embracing greatly the Mexican Lucha Libre, Jessie Burciaga worked from 2012-2014 to present this series of vibrant colored paintings of los Luchadores. He focuses on three types of poses: the flexing luchador that signifies strength, the relaxed pose that depicts the man, and the portrait that signifies the legends.
What Burciaga wants to portray in his paintings is the following: El luchador creates his own character by making the mask, the mask transcends him to becoming a legend and thus, el luchador achieves immortality among the masses and throughout time. Through his paintings, he conveys this message by portraying the luchador being glorified as a Mexican Folklore hero."

Closing date of the exhibition will be Friday, July 4 2014
