AREA OF SPECIALITY AND RESPONSIBILITY:

At UTB Dr. Demaar is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Biomedicine, the Vivarium Director and IACUC attending veterinarian. In addition Dr. Demaar is employed full time at the Gladys Porter Zoo, Brownsville,TX. Interests include wildlife and zoological medicine, IACUC procedures, bioethical issues, international agriculture development, environmental research, wildlife rehabilitaion, and consevation education. Dr. Demaar is also the attending veterinarian for Sea Turtle Inc., South Padre Island, TX, and consulting veterinarian for the US Fish and Wildlife Service ocelot consevation program at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.
