RSPT 1161 Clinical I
A health-related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional.

RSPT 1310 Respiratory Care Procedures I
Provides students with the essential knowledge of the equipment and techniques used in the treatment of pulmonary disease and their clinical application. The following areas are discussed in-depth: oxygen therapy, humidity and aerosol therapy, hyperinflation therapy, chest physiotherapy, pulse oximetry, arterial puncture, and interpretation.

RSPT 1311 Respiratory Care Procedures II
Provides student with essential knowledge of airway care and mechanical ventilation. Airway care includes indications, techniques, equipment, and hazards and complications. Mechanical ventilation includes indications, initiation, modes, clinical application, management, complications, and weaning.

RSPT 2258 Respiratory Care Patient Assessment
Instruction in the integration of patient examination techniques, clinical lab studies, x-ray, pulmonary function, arterial blood gases, and invasive and non-invasive hemodynamics results in patient assessment.

RSPT 2217 Respiratory Care Pharmacology
A study of pharmacological principles/practices of drugs which affect the cardiopulmonary systems. Emphasis on classification, route of administration, dosages/calculations, and physiological interactions.

RSPT 1260 Clinical II
A method of instruction providing detailed education, training and work-based experience and direct patient/client care, generally at a specific site. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by faculty. On-site clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation and placement is the responsibility of college faculty. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences.

RSPT 2305 Pulmonary Diagnostics
Covers diagnostic procedures involved in pulmonary function testing, diagnostics with emphysis on blood gas theory and analysis, quality control, oximetry and capnography.

RSPT 2314 Mechanical Ventilation
Preparation to conduct the therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate, spontaneous and artificial ventilation with emphasis on ventilator classification, methods, principles, and operational characteristics. Also included are the indications, complications, and physiologic effects/principles of mechanical ventilation.

RSPT 2310 Cardiopulmonary Disease
A discussion of the pathogenesis, pathology, diagnosis, history, prognosis, manifestations, treatment and detection of cardiopulmonary disease.

RSPT 2353 Neonatal/Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Care
A study of acute care, monitoring and management as applied to the neonatal and pediatric patient.

RSPT 2363 Clinical III and RSPT 2262 Clinical IV
A method of instruction providing detailed education, training and work based experience and direct client care, generally at a clinical site. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences.

RSPT 2135 Pediatric Advanced Life Support
A comprehensive course designed to develop the cognitive and psychomotor skills necessary for resuscitation of the infant and child. Strategies for preventing cardiopulmonary arrest and identification of high risk infants and children will be presented.

RSPT 2139 Advanced Cardiac Life Support
A comprehensive course designed to develop the cognitive and psychomotor skills necessary for resuscitation of the adult patient. Strategies for preventing cardiopulmonary arrest and identification of high risk adult patients will be presented.

RSPT 2233 Respiratory Care Case Management
Introduction to the role of case manager of the care of cardiopulmonary disorders. Specific practice will be provided in developing case manager skills in the management of asthma and COPD.

RSPT 2231 Clinical Simulations in Respiratory Care
A review of the National Board for Respiratory Care Clinical Simulation Examination matrix and practices. Theory and history of clinical simulation examinations will be reviewed. It includes construction types, scoring, and mechanics of taking the computerized simulation examination. The learner will learn techniques used to take this exam and have practice in multiple patient care scenarios.
