transfer students

Transfer students are those who have never attended UTB and have earned college hours at another postsecondary institution. This category includes both students who transfer to pursue a degree at UTB and also transient students who enroll for only one semester.

Transfer Students

  • Transfer students are advised initially at the Academic Advising Center.
  • If no transcript evaluation of course work is available, the academic advisor may recommend courses for the first semester based on an unofficial evaluation.
  • Once a transcript evaluation is completed and the student has declared a major, they are advised to see an academic advisor to work on a program of study.
  • Students are required to abide by UTB policies regarding assessment, TSI policy, developmental course sequences and prerequisites.

Transient Students

A student who enrolls at UTB for only one semester is considered a transient student. These students are commonly known as "visiting students" who plan to return to their home institution to graduate.

  • Students are responsible for contacting their academic advisor at their home institution to seek approval to register at UTB and to verify transferability of courses.
  • Students are required to abide by UTB policies regarding assessment, TSI policy, developmental course sequences and prerequisites.
