Students Together Involving, Networking and Guiding Success

"STING Students walking during the Charro Day’s Golf Cart Contest"

Welcome to Students Together, Involving, Networking & Guiding (STING), a component of the Student Success Center. We are excited to have you join us. STING’s mission is to help you be academically successful so that you can achieve your personal and professional goals. The program will facilitate and enhance your transition from high school to college by assigning you a lab instructor, a peer mentor, and provide you with tutoring assistance. This support team will meet with you on a weekly basis to deliver a series of presentations, assist you with your coursework, and expose you to campus events that will foster your development into a successful college student. To increase your opportunity for success, mentors are available to work with you on an individual basis during office hours to discuss your grades, class attendance, and find out how you are coping with your transition to “university life.”

We ask you to put forth all your effort to succeed. You have the ability, you have the talent, and you have the support to accomplish whatever you want. We want to see you succeed and we will do what we can to make that happen. Never quit trying, we can work it out together. Your college experience is a wonderful opportunity, as it will provide a path for accomplishing your dreams and goals. We encourage you to think seriously about what you hope your life will be like in the future and what you want to accomplish and let that vision guide.

We congratulate you on your decision to join our Scorpion family and encourage you to take advantage of all the support services we have to help you succeed.

STING is a great program! I was totally lost & terrified when the semester began, but now I feel confident.
