The Office of Information Security (OIS) for The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College is  responsible for reasuring that proper controls are employed to protect Category A, B and C data on the network. The administration of the network, is decentralized:  technical contacts are spread out over colleges, schools, research units,  and administrative departments.  The OIS scans systems as a value added service.

The OIS provides technical staff  with monthly  scan reports of their own devices--and only their own devices--on the network, without compromising the ability of the ISO to view the resulting reports.

The OIS uses the SAINT system as its primary network vulnerability tool for risk assessments, PCI compliance assessments, system profiling, and network-wide vulnerability sweeps.
