Office of the President - The University of Texas at Brownsville
OCTOBER 3, 2012 FALL 2012 NO. 2
Dr. Juliet V. Garcia

Dear Colleagues,

Last week we had a wonderful inauguration of the 21st Century University Commission to begin dreaming and envisioning the future for UT Brownsville and the transformation of our region.

The second meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m., and we encourage new participants to join our conversations and enrich our dreams for what a unique, innovative university of the 21st Century should be.

The second meeting will take place on-campus at Salón Cassia in the Education and Business Complex, as well as at six sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley. (See below)

The commission is addressing seven different topics. We invite you to choose to participate in any or all of the discussions:

  • Unique Attributes of an Education at UT Brownsville
  • Pathways through College to 21st Century Careers
  • The Successful Student-to-Graduate Model
  • Student Life: On-Campus, On-line and On-site
  • Innovative Technology for Teaching, Learning and Connections
  • A Well-Funded University Model
  • University: A Family Affair
Please join us for the extraordinary opportunity we have been given to design an innovative university that will not only propel students toward their dreams of becoming scientists, teachers and business leaders, but that will help to transform the Rio Grande Valley into a vibrant and dynamic community.
