UTB Signs Articulation Agreements with TSTC Harlingen

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – NOVEMBER 20, 2012 – Students completing several two-year academic programs at Texas State Technical College Harlingen will be able to transfer easier to The University of Texas at Brownsville beginning next year. 

Academic leaders from both institutions formally signed articulation agreements at an afternoon ceremony held Friday, Nov. 16 at the Dr. J. Gilbert Leal Learning Resource Center on the TSTC campus. The agreement will provide a seamless transfer for students planning to attend the university beginning in spring semester 2013.  

“This makes the collaboration even stronger and we will be able to recruit more good students to our programs,” said Dr. Mikhail Bouniaev, Dean of UTB’s College of Science, Mathematics and Technology.”

TSTC students majoring in biology, computer science, engineering science, mechatronics technology, wind energy and turbine technology, architectural design and engineering graphics, machining technology, mathematics and physics will be able to transfer to UTB without losing semester credit hours.

 “Our students have incredible hurdles to go through,” said Barbara Bennett, Associate Vice President for Student Learning at TSTC. “They have so much going on. The easier we can make it with a seamless transfer the better.”

Under the agreement, TSTC transfer students can major at the university in biology, computer science, computational science, engineering technology, engineering physics, mathematics, multidisciplinary studies – physics, chemistry or environmental sciences.
