“Concert Under the Moon” to benefit Music Scholarships

effort to keep supporting fledgling student artists,” said Robles. “The students that we impact are those that do not qualify
for financial aid or talented international students that frequently fall
through the cracks. Over the years, we have seen the number of students in need
grow, and that is why we are having this concert.”
The concert will feature
undergraduate and graduate
students from the Department of Music
at UTB and will include music spanning an array of genres
including world famous arias from popular operas and a medley of pop music with
a special tribute to the moon that will include the popular song by Henry
Mancini, Moon River.
Jessica Lustenberger will be one of the performers at the
concert. The senor music education major from Matamoros will graduate in 2014.
“I feel blessed and honored to be the first student to
receive a full scholarship from the Brownsville Society for the Performing
Arts,” said Lustenberger. “Singing is my passion and performing is what I most
like to do, and these wonderful people are making my dream come true.”
A limited number of tickets are available for the concert,
so it is encouraged to purchase early as tickets will not be available for
purchase at the door.
Tickets are $250 and include two tickets for the concert, a
dinner that will feature wood burning oven pizza and pasta with a house salad
Dinner will be served from 5:30-7:30 p.m. around the pool
that includes a view of the full moon over the resaca. Following dinner,
patrons will move to the front of the home to be seated for the concert.
“We hope that the evening brings out the best of goodwill in
our community and at the same time give the students an opportunity to showcase
their talent,” said George Ramirez, President of the BSPA. “We appreciate every effort made to attend
this important fund-raising event to assist those students in need so they may
continue to pursue their dreams.”
