Veterans / Dependents Benefits
UTB is approved by the Texas Veterans Workforce Commission for processing of Veterans' Administration Educational Benefits through all of the following: Chapter 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, 1606, 1607, and Student Work-Study Allowance Program. Hazlewood Act benefits for Veterans and some eligible dependents are also available.

Attention VA Participants,
The University of Texas at Brownsville is approved to train veterans and other eligible people to attend under the following programs:
UTB Primary Institution Letter (PDF)- A veteran/eligible dependents may attend another school and have UTB be the parent institution for VA educational purposes.

CHILDREN AND SPOUSES OF ACTIVE SERVICE MEMBERS/VETERANS
Eligible veterans may assign unused hours of exemption eligibility to a child under certain conditions. All requests must be submitted to the Veterans Resource Center one month prior to the start of any term.
Parent or spouse of a veteran of the U. S. Armed Forces, Texas National Guard, or Texas Air National Guard who died as a result of service-related injuries or illness, is missing in action, or became totally disabled (100%) as a result of service-related injury or illness or is entitled to receive compensation at the 100% rate due to individual unempoyability (IU) due to a service-connected injury or illness. All requests must be submitted to the Veterans Resource Center one month prior to the start of any term.
