HOW TO APPLY
When a student completes the FAFSA and indicates they want student loans, they will automatically be considered for loan funds. UTB and TSC only awards Subsidized loan funds to eligible students. If a student does not qualify for a Subsidized loan, or does not qualify for very much, an Unsubsidized loan will be offered as well. A student that did not indicate loans on the FAFSA, but has decided they want a loan, or wants additional loan funds, must complete the online Student Loan Request Form.
First time loan borrowers at UTB and TSC must attend an in-person loan counseling session. Students needing to attend this session will be informed via email. Session dates and times will be included in the email and students are encouraged to attend as soon as possible. Loan funds cannot be issued to students until they attend this important session. Students need to contact the Financial Aid Office to sign up. They will be required to bring one photo I.D. with them.
Students that have borrowed loan funds at UTB and TSC before do NOT need to attend an in-person session. These students will perform all loan requirements online. Students will receive an email that outlines the following steps:
- Students must accept their loan awards via Scorpion Online
- Students must complete online loan counseling
- Students must complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note, if they have not already done so
