Specialized Software in Open labs for Students
UTB has open labs in which students can use. These labs are open for students that need fast computers and connections to do homework or use class specific software. You can check on the links below to get information about each lab and software that is currently automatically installed.
Students can also download software to use on lab computers at any time. However they need to understand that software will be taken off the computers at the end of the lab day. They will have to install it each time they use it. Work that they create needs to be saved on a USB drive or in an online account like Google Docs.
Request to Install Specific Software on Open Lab and Department Computers
UTB tries to make course specific software available to all students in open labs and in department labs. In order to do this, it requires lab technicians to download to hundreds of computers. Therefore the request to have specialized software downloaded to open and department labs needs to be submitted to your department secretary to submit a work order to user support services at least one month prior to the start of the semester.
Software can be installed after the deadline or the beginning of the semester; however it can take one to two weeks to get the software downloaded.
For additional assistance access the Lab Work Order Policy.
