The University of Texas at Brownsville is part of The University of Texas System. The University serves about 17,000 students at its campus located in Brownsville, Texas. UTB is situated about 25 miles from South Padre Island and just across the border from Matamoros, Mexico. The College of Education (http://coe.utb.edu) serves over 5,500 graduate and undergraduate students each semester. The College of Education offers 31 undergraduate programs of which 22 are leading to teacher certification from elementary to PK-12. In addition, we have non-teacher programs which lead to the B.S. in health and human performance as kinesiology and exercise science, as well as a certificate and associate program in child care and development. At the graduate level, we offer 17 master's specializations in bilingual education, counseling and guidance, curriculum and instruction, early childhood education, educational leadership, educational technology, English as a second language, health and human performance, reading and special education. Doctoral Program in curriculum offers the following specializations: bilingual studies, literacy, early childhood education, educational leadership, educational technology, and higher education teaching. Assistant/Associate Professor in Counseling and Guidance

Scope: Teach graduate courses in CACREP accredited program in Counseling and Guidance, advise graduate students, serve on university committees. This is a full time tenure track position offered for Spring 2014. Responsibilities include teaching master’s level counseling courses, supervising practicum and internship students at off campus sites and at the university training lab, student advising, program development, scholarly and research activities and participating in university and professional committees. Assistant/Associate Professor in Language, Literacy & Intercultural Studies Specialization in Reading/Literacy Education

Scope: Teach undergraduate, master’s level, and doctoral courses in Reading, Literacy, and Digital Literacy face-to-face and also online synchronously through Blackboard Collaborative or other platforms, develop and maintain an active research publication agenda, assist in recruiting and advising students, assist in the e-portfolio process and e-portfolio defense, assist with NCATE and other program report and improvement efforts, coordinator student field experiences, supervise EDLI 6380 practicum requirements, collaborate in further development of undergraduate and graduate programs, participate in school/university/community collaborations, pursue an external funding agenda, and incorporate digital technology extensively into coursework. Clinical Faculty Associate/Director of Clinical & Field Experiences
Position Number: FY 14-32
Reports to: Associate Dean – College of Education
Scope: Directly responsible for overseeing all students applying for admission into the teacher education program and coordinating with university faculty and area school districts in placing students in public school classrooms for clinical and field activities and student teaching assignments. This is a twelve month full time position. In addition teaching university classes at either the undergraduate/graduate level may be required.
