Mission Statement

The University of Texas at Brownsville Department of Music prepares students for productive careers as teachers, performers, and scholars through engagement with diverse musical traditions, community outreach, technology, and intellectual and creative exploration. By promoting the interdependence of performance and research, relationships between music and other disciplines, and an appreciation of the heritage of our region, we strive to develop graduates with informed and inquiring minds who will become cultural leaders in our communities.
