Biography:
Dr. George K. Green holds a Ph.D. in Spanish from Colombia University and five other college and university degrees, including two diplomats from the Munich Interpreters Institute. He has over fifty years of experience as a freelance translator and more than forty as a teacher. In 34 years at this institution, he has taught 84 different courses in such diverse fields as linguistics, folklore, grammar, writing, literature, translation and interpreting. He was the founder of two regional professional associations, the translation and interpreting courses at this institution, and the departmental literary magazine. He was the series editor for three volumes of articles on the Spanish of the United States published by the Rio Grande Research Group, which he helped to establish. His publications include a number of books and several hundred articles. He has traveled widely in Latin America and Europe.
