Bachelor of Arts in History
Requires 39 hours in history as the major field of study with 18 hours in any supporting field. A history major with a concentration in the Teacher Education Program for 8th-12th Grade and the History–Social Studies Composite for 8th–12th Grade are also offered.

Master of Arts in History
The M.A. in History degree encompasses a broad education in major fields of history, underlying methods and concepts, as well as a unique opportunity to examine the particular confluence of various strains of history that occur along the U.S.–Mexican border. It requires a total of 36 semester hours of graduate credit. 30 semester hours must be taken in history. In addition, another 6 credit hours must be taken in a supporting field, such as English, government, music, sociology, Spanish, biology, business administration, criminal justice, education, fine arts, geography, interpreting or psychology. Students have a thesis or non-thesis (comprehensive written examination) option. Masters of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in History
The M.A.I.S. with a concentration in history requires a total of 36 semester hours of graduate credit. The history area of concentration must have at least 12 and no more than 18 semester hours. In addition, 18-24 hours must be taken in two or more supporting fields, including English, government, music, sociology, Spanish, biology, business administration, criminal justice, education, fine arts, geography, interpreting or psychology. Students have a thesis or non-thesis (comprehensive written examination) option.
