Family and Friends
Ceremony Instructions: All family and friends are encouraged to attend Commencement. Seating will be available behind the degree candidates on the MRC South Lawn. The ceremony will last about 2.5 hours. We ask that all family and friends please remain seated until the graduates have receded.
Parking: Parking for participating faculty members is available in parking lots at the Arnulfo L. Oliveira Memorial Library, Jacob Brown Auditorium, Tandy Hall, the Village at Fort Brown (old residence hall parking), the Science, Engineering and Technology Building, the Biomedical Research Building and the Education and Business Complex. Parking decals are not required.
Services for Guests with Disabilities: People with special needs that plan to attend Commencement are advised to contact the Office of Disability Services at least a week before the ceremony. Parking for the handicapped is available at Cardenas North Hall, Jacob Brown Auditorium and at the Arnulfo L. Oliveira Memorial Library. It is recommended visitors arrive early to take advantage of available parking. The ceremony will have reserved seating to the left of the stage. The seating is cordoned off and secured by Campus Police. The seating is for guests who are deaf, use wheelchairs or walkers or have other needs. A sign language interpreter is available upon request. Graduates can request a wheelchair lift to access the stage at least a week before Commencement.
