  • INTRODUCTION TO FRENC​H

    This course is designed to help students attain an acceptable level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students gain confidence in expressing thoughts, opinions, and ideas, while learning how to ask simple questions and produce negative statements orally and in written form in French. The objective of this course is to attain a functional level of proficiency by incorporating conversational and written activities and using extensive vocabulary.

  • INTRODUCTION TO SPANISH (SPANISH I)

    This is the foundation of the program and it focuses on the study of basic concepts that range from the alphabet to the 100 most common verbs in Spanish. It examines the present tense conjugation, power verbs and a vocabulary of about 200 words. This course enables students to express and understand needs and wishes in a simple context.

  • INTRODUCTION TO GERMAN

    This course prepares students for a basic level of proficiency. Students are involved in reading, writing, listening, and speaking activities throughout the course. This is achieved by concentrating on communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities. Students are engaged in oral activities that allow them to interact and practice German while using prior knowledge, comparing language, exploring culture, and learning about community activities. ​

  • INTRODUCTION TO ITALIAN

    This course introduces the basic language elements focusing on vocabulary, reading, and language structure. The learner is engaged in pronunciation drills, reading passages, and grammar exercises that help develop the ability to express orally and in writing. Pronunciation aids, word puzzles, vocabulary-building exercises, and Italian culture and history components are integrated in the learning process.

  • INTRODUCTION TO RUSSIAN

    This course is designed to provide students with structure and communication skills. It integrates vocabulary and grammatical explanations derived from context. Learners in this course are encouraged to engage in small-group and partner activities to use Russian in meaningful, communicative situations. Learners are exposed to reading, vocabulary, grammar in context, and Russian culture.

  • INTRODUCTION TO PORTUGUESE

    This course is designed to teach basic Brazilian Portuguese in a fast, interesting, practical, and efficient way. Students learn vocabulary and grammar by applying personal, social, and professional themes as subject media for dialogues. Students also learn about culture and history of Brazilian people and language. The objective is a basic oral and written skills attainment.

  • INTRODUCTION TO AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE

    This course offers basic explanations of the language structures of American Sign Language (ASL). It incorporates drills (substitution, transformation, and question-response), vocabulary, dialogues, and translation. Important elements are also introduced to the learner, such as community and culture, common misunderstandings about ASL, its roots, culture of deaf people, beliefs and world views, and societal aspects.
