Welcome to the home page for the Criminal Justice Department at the University of Texas at Brownsville.  The Criminal Justice faculty are dedicated to providing a quality educational experience to students residing in the lower Rio Grande Valley, throughout the state of Texas, and nationally. mission Statement

The Criminal Justice Department at The University of Texas at Brownsville is committed to providing a quality education to the student body.  We recognize that potential employers require the highest quality graduates to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and changing criminal justice system.   We also understand that education should encourage lifelong learning, social service and leadership.  Our educational role is to provide a multidimensional criminal justice program which encourages articulate expression, creativity, critical thinking, and evidence-based decision making with a special emphasis on the appreciation of valid research and assessment.  The department’s mission also includes engaging in many forms of scholarship, including academic and applied research, as well as service to the common good of people who live in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.
