Welcome class of 2018!

Orientation is designed to introduce you to The University of Texas at Brownsville and its many programs and opportunities. Orientation will assist you as you transition to college life and begin an exciting and new chapter in your journey that will change your life. Our goal is to introduce you to the people, the places, and the services that are available to you as you pursue your degree.
Your first steps to realizing your dream begin with the Orientation program.  The Orientation program is designed specifically to help you choose what classes you want to take, introduce you to services that are available to you, and to sign up for your classes.  To achieve this, Orientation includes the following steps:

A Pre-Orientation Orientation Link 

  • This program consists of several online modules that provide an introduction to the academic requirements and the support services available to assist you to succeed while you are at UT Brownsville. Instructions will be e-mailed to you on how to begin the online portion of your Orientation.
Phone Call from Your Orientation Leader
·     Soon after receiving your Pre-Orientation Online email you will receive a call from your Orientation leader. Your Orientation Leader will assist you during the course of the orientation process or be available to answer any questions you might have about UT Brownsville. During this call the Orientation Leader will go over the Orientation process with you.
Meet with Orientation Leader
·        After you complete your online Pre-Orientation, you will meet, either face-to-face or Skype, with your orientation leader. During the meeting you will make your appointment to meet with your academic adviser and discuss your career goals, On Campus Orientation process and other information about UT Brownsville.
Appointment with Academic Adviser
·       You will be able to meet with an Academic Advisor one-on-one to discuss your major, your career goals and course options for your first semester. The Academic Adviser will guide you to the right pathway on your career goals and assist you with any questions you might have. This will be last step before your On Campus Orientation.
On Campus Orientation
  • The on campus program is a one day experience that is packed with valuable information. During the orientation you will be able to meet your fellow students, meet the faculty, staff and student leaders and of course register for classes! We promise to make this day a great start to your college experience.
TIP: Students who attend orientation during the first dates have the best chance of getting the classes and schedule they prefer.

To participate in orientation students must complete the following:

* Complete an Admissions Application to UTB and submit all required documentation
* Complete all Testing requirements prior to your Orientation date
* Be marked as Admission complete by the Admissions Office

Sign in begins at 7:30am at Main Building (Education and Business Building Complex).
We will provide a breakfast, snack and lunch.
Late arrivals will be rescheduled to attend at a time designated by the orientation staff.
Attendance is mandatory and therefore students are expected to make proper arrangements and stay for the entire program. To complete Orientation the student must stay the entire day. If you are not able to complete orientation a cancellation fee may apply and you will be contacted to reschedule to return on the day designated by the Orientation Staff.
