MLK Service Award Nominations
It gives us great pleasure to announce the addition of awards in honor of UTB's MLK Day of Service. You will have the opportunity to nominate students, staff and faculty for one of three MLK Day Awards. The awards are:
MLK Civic Leadership Award: This award will be presented to a student who has excelled in leadership and community service.
MLK Caring Staff Award: This award will be presented to a staff member who is approachable, motivated, goes above and beyond to help a student in need unselfishly embodying MLK’s challenge to all, “What are you doing for others?”
MLK Spirit of Teaching Award: This award will be presented to a faculty member who is approachable, has positively impacted students, has superior teaching style, motivates students to learn and does so by modeling the essence of MLK’s values in their teaching profession.
The MLK Day of Service Program Committee will review nominations by a selection panel who will rate the strengths, abilities and exceptional character of the nominees. These awards will be presented at the Fourth Annual UTB MLK Day, on January 19, 2015, to commemorate those individuals who reflect the essence of this day in their own lives by modeling leadership and service.
Self nominations will not be considered; nominations must be submitted by a current student, staff or faculty member via the nominatrion request form.
- Enrolled for Fall 2014
- Registered for Spring 2015
- Currently employed by UTB
- Employment of at least six months with UTB
Essay submissions need to be double-spaced and 300 words maximum in length; they must be in Times New Roman 12 point font.
Essay should explain why the nominee embodies the meaning behind the award, giving specific examples of what this person has done. Essay will be rated on quality of the nominee’s character, community/campus impact, ability to inspire others, writing style and grammar.
